Day 01: LIMA: Arrival in Lima
After your arrival at the international airport, You will be picked up and taken to your hotel.
Day 02: LIMA
In the morning, you will enjoy a city tour through Lima and you will get to know the most important attractions of the "City of Kings" like the historic center, the Plaza San Martín, the City Hall, the Government Palace, the Cathedral. You will also admire the beautiful balconies of the houses of the colonial era. Afterwards you return to the hotel and the afternoon is at your free disposal.
Day 03: LIMA, AREQUIPA
In the morning, you get a transfer to the bus station and drive in a comfortable bus (Cruz del Sur or Oltursa) for about 16 hours to Arequipa where you get a transfer to your hotel.
Day 04: AREQUIPA
The day is at your free disposal.
Optional: On your tour through Arequipa in the morning, you will visit the main square, one of the most beautiful “Plazas” in Peru and the Cathedral which is an example of Peruvian architecture of the 19th century. It houses magnificent treasures of gold and silver. Afterwards, you will walk through “La Compañia”, a Jesuit church and one of the most beautiful churches in Arequipa with its wonderful façade and columns with spiral carvings, crowns of laurel, flowers, birds, etc. At a closer look, you will realize the indigenous influence. The angels have indigenous faces and one of them is wearing a crown of feathers. Afterwards you will visit Santa Catalana, a small town from the 17th century. The town was opened for visitors in 1970. The monastery of Santa Catalina gives the visitor an insight into its 400 year old history. You will marvel at the numerous courtyards and gardens, the kitchen, the room of the slaves and the washing areas made of stone. The requirements for entry into this monastery were the strictest of Peru. Today, about 20 nuns live in the part of the monastery, which formerly housed up to 500 nuns.
Day 05: AREQUIPA, COLCA CANYON
You are starting your half day tour early in the morning. Destination is the Colca Canyon, one of the deepest in the world (3.400 M). The journey will take your through the "Pampa Cañahuas" in the Aguada Blanca National Park. En route, you will see pre-columbian terraces which are still used by local collaguas. You may also want to rest for a while to get used to the altitude.
Optional: Trip to ''La Calera'' thermal springs.
Day 06: COLCA, PUNO
Very early in the morning, you will start your journey to Lake Titicaca, but first you will take a tour to the "Cruz del Condor".where you have the opportunity to observe the biggest bird of prey in the wild. On the way back home you visit the villages of Yanque, Coporaque, Achoma and Maca. They are still living the same way as in ancient Inca times. In the afternoon transfer to Puno and overnight stay in a selected hotel.
Day 07: LAKE TITICACA
In the morning, You will start your boat tour on Lake Titicaca and visit the swimming island of the Uros. The Uros are an old nation on Lake Titicaca that is also called "Acuatica". The Uros constructed the island by putting layers of cattails from the lake around the edges. The same material is used for the construction of houses and boats.
Your next stop is the island Taquile and there you will get to know its inhabitants, the Quechua. The Quechua have developed an efficient social system over the generations and are well-known for their knitting art. Lunch is taken on the island and later on in the afternoon, you will continue your trip to Amantani where you will stay over night.
Day 08: AMANTANI, PUNO
The morning is at your free disposal. You may want to take a walk and discover the island of Amantani with numerous Inca houses. In the afternoon return to Puno and transfer to the hotel.
Day 09: PUNO, CUSCO
In the morning, you start a 9 hour journey to Cusco with a private transfer. Enroute to Cusco, you will pass the mountain range Vilcanota from where you can enjoy a beautiful view over the snow-covered peaks of "La Raya·and "Kunurana". You will also visit Pucará, Rajchi and Andahuaylillas.
Day 10: CUSCO
Optional: City tour of Cusco. Visit of the main square, the Cathedral and the Temple of the Sun or Korikancha. You continue the tour outside the city, where you visit the Inca ruins Kenko, Tambomachay, Puca Pucara and the impressive fortress of Sacsayhuamán, which was built strategically on a hill and dominates over Cusco. The fortress is famous for its enormous stones which are interconnected and form the walls of the complex.
Return to the hotel.
Day 11: CUSCO, SACRED VALLEY OF THE INCA
This is your Free day.
Optional: Excursion to the Sacred Valley of the Inca. You will visit the colourful indigenous market in Pisac. Here you can take a look at the customs of the population on a typical market day (on Sundays, Mass is held in Quechua, the language of the local population). In the afternoon you will drive through the Urbamba Valley to Ollantaytambo. The fort of Ollantaytambo was built to guard the entrance of the valley and protect it from possible attacks of the jungle population. The site consists of several super imposed terraces. Furthermore, you have the opportunity to walk through the narrow streets of the village and gain an insight into this military, religious and cultural center of the Incas. In the afternoon, you will receive a transfer to the hotel.
Day 12: CUSCO, POROY, MACHU PICCHU
In the morning, you'll get a transfer to the train station of Poroy. You start your train journey to Aguas Calientes, a village on the foot of Machu Picchu. From there, you will be going up to the ruins of Machu Picchu by bus in 30 minutes. During the guided tour, you will visit the main square, the round towers, the Holy Sun Dial, the Royal Quarters, the Temple of the three windows and the cemetery. Afterwards, you have time for a stroll on your own. In the afternoon return to Poroy by train and transfer to Cusco.
Day 13: CUSCO, LIMA
Transfer to the Bus Terminal in Cusco. Drive to Lima by night bus (Cruz del Sur). The journey takes approximately 21.00 hrs.
Day 14: LIMA.
Arrival in Lima and transfer to the airport.
